Vespa History

Vespa is a globally recognized scooter brand that has been on the market for over 75 years. The company was founded in 1946 by Italian aircraft manufacturer Piaggio & Co, who wanted to create an affordable method of transportation for the masses.

The first Vespa scooter was the Vespa 98, introduced in April 1946. The design of the Brand, which was revolutionary at the time, had a solid chassis with a flat floor and a closed engine that protected the driver from external factors. The Vespa 98 quickly became popular in post-war Italy and throughout Europe, and it wasn't long before the company began exporting the scooter to other countries.

Over the years, the Brand has continued to innovate and add new models to its range. In 1953, the Vespa GS 150, a more powerful version of the original scooter, was launched. In the 1960s, the Vespa Primavera and Vespa Sprint were launched, featuring sleeker designs and more powerful engines.

During the 1970s and 1980s, the Brand faced increasing competition from other scooter manufacturers, and the company struggled to maintain market share. However, in the 1990s the popularity of the Brand revived and the company introduced several new models, including the Vespa ET2 and ET4.

Today, the Brand remains a popular scooter brand, and the company has expanded its product line to include electric scooters and other vehicles. Vespa scooters are known for their iconic design and high quality and remain a popular choice for city commuters and scooter enthusiasts worldwide.
